Linden Water Heater Installation Services
Water heaters. They are often forgotten by the people of Linden. That is, until they suddenly fail to deliver hot water. Then, it’s all they can think of. Like any appliance, water heaters have a finite service life. They typically last between 10 and 15 years, but there are no guarantees. This is especially true if you choose to get the water heater installed by an unlicensed contractor.
More often than not, when home and business owners in the Linden area attempt to save themselves a couple of bucks by choosing someone without the right qualifications and experience to install their water heaters, whether that be an unlicensed contractor or themselves, they end up getting burned in the long run. An improperly installed water heater, both residential and commercial models, can operate for years without notice, making your utility bills skyrocket while wearing down the essential components of the appliances, setting it up for early replacement.
Of course, all this can be avoided if you just choose Carrasco Electric to install your water heater. Carrasco Electric is a team of licensed, insured and experienced electricians who have successfully installed all kinds of residential and commercial electric water heaters around the Linden area. All you have to do is give us a call today and we’ll be happy to give you a free quote on our water heater installation services.
How Electric Water Heaters Work
We’ve seen in the past that home and business owners fail to heed our warning, preferring to trust a step-by-step guide they found online. To give you an idea of how complex and sensitive these machines are, we’re going to give you a break of how they work.
The typical electric water heater is wired to a 220-volt circuit. To heat the water, the electric current passes through electrical-resistance heating elements typically found at the middle of the tank and at the bottom. Power is delivered to each element through the thermostat.
When the temperature drops, the switch closes to allow current flow, and it opens when the temperature reaches its preset limit. When a hot water tap is opened, cold water enters the tank through the dip tube and the drop in temperature triggers the thermostat and element at the bottom. As the water at the top of the tank is replaced by colder water, the temperature at the top drops and its element kicks in. When the tap is turned off, the heating elements continue to carry current until the thermostats are satisfied.
Never, under any circumstances, should you attempt to wire a 220-volt circuit yourself. This is especially true if there are large quantities of water around.
So, unless you have plenty of experience working with electricity, you are better off leaving the installation of these complicated and essential pieces of machinery to the professionals.
